Original Le Sillon (Ssmall) Les Affiches Etrangeres illustrees, belgique. Presented in an 16" x 20 acid free protection mat. Size: 8 5/8" X 12 3/8". Les Affiches Etrangeres illustrees were printed in an editon of 1050 in 1897.

De Rycker, Bruxelles Toussaint's first poster, this image advertises the self-titled magazine published by the artists' group Le Sillon. The name derives from the phrase "cruser son sillon" -- to plow one's own furrow, or, more colloquially, to make one's own way in the world. Toussaint takes this ideal somewhat literally, showing a dreamy blond at the annual grain harvest, gathering both the fruits of the field and the fruits of this group's work.
