Howard Hughes gained a controlling interest in TWA in 1941, and went after Pan Am's designation as the sole international commercial airline. In 1946 TWA changed it's name to the Trans World Airline to advertise this new international serive, with Cairo the first overseas destination.

Werner an avid artist creating many “dioramas” which rival the best computer animation of today. His work comprised the entirety of the 1949 TWA calendar. (dioramas: a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures).. After creating his diorama it was photographed to create the images that were used in this rare 1949 TWA calendar.

We believe that this was the only manner in which these specific dioramas were issued.

Although his work is not a magazine cover, this is the best section of our website to represent this work.
