Original poster: Harpers May. Artist: Edward Penfield. Year: 1897. Original: Les Affiches Etrangeres Illustrees "Les Affiches Etrangeres" printed by the famous Imprimerie Chaix in Paris and issued monthly between 1897 and 1899.
Original Les Affiches Etrangeres illustrees. This poster is not linen backed but was printed on cotton paper.
These rare images printed by the 'father of color printing' before the turn of the century are rare enough that we have not found any others for sale. Only 1050 copies of the image were printed in 1897 as a collection of color lithographs by foreign artists.
