Le Voci dei JUKE-BOX. Original Teatro Della Palme, Citta di San Remo vintage poster. Conservation linen backed in very good condition, ready to frame. Fold marks restored. Sunday, 16 August 1959.
It wasn't until 1937 that the music-playing machines began to be called “jukeboxes.” The origin of the name is believed to be derived from the word “jook”
We are in the early years after the Second World War and life in Sanremo slowly resumes its normal rhythm. Starting from 1954, up to and including 57, the municipal Tourism Department will set up a structure called THEATRO delle Palme in the gymnastics field of via Anselmi. Its capacity of 1500 seats will offer the possibility of hosting opera, theater, and skating revue shows such as Holiday on Ice, boxing or basketball matches such as The Globe Trotter. The only irrepressible, sometimes unbearable flaw will reveal itself in the periodic transit of trains a few meters from the stage.
