Original World War II, vintage poster. Artist: Ha_a-tee Ben, native American Indian. Archivai linen backed with center fold mark restored. The image has red, white and blue bars and stars at both the top and bottom of tis design.
The image of an adobe post office with a single pole hitching post outside shows three young native American Indians getting ready to go and purchase Was Bond Stamps. A line of red and blue with blue stars decorate both the top and bottom of this 1942 poster.
It was a real tragedy that Ben Quintana (Há-ā-tee ) of Cochiti Pueblo lost his life during World War II at only the age of 21 years. He was an outstanding artist and had a brilliant future in the art field. He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for Gallantry in Action.
Published by the U.S. Government, the colorful poster sheet promotes the sale of bonds to finance the war. The poster sheet uses Native American scenes or imagery to depict their patriotism
During World War II, all Americans were called to help the war effort by investing in U.S. war bonds. All Americans. This is one of the three posters created by Native American students at the U.S. Indian School in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
