Original Fortune, May 1938 vintage cover designed by Joseph Binder. Archival linen backed, beautiful art deco design. Colorful, excellent condition. Ready to frame.
So is this image of a tank that is carrying a red waving flat in front or part of the industrial revolution of heavy equipment machines such as a Caterpillar. Another set of tracks lead forward into the distance as this machine moves to the edge of the image skyline. You can see the sand being picked up in the tracks as it shows the movement forward in this great design.
Binder applied reductive compositional principles derived from Cubism and De Stijl to his posters, including the one he designed for the New York World's Fair in 1939.
However, with an American profile and the unrest at home, emigrating to the United States seemed a logical next step. Soon after Binder settled in New York City in 1934, he won a competition sponsored by the nascent Museum of Modern Art, and continued his winning streak with posters for other American organizations, including the National Defense and the United Nations. In addition to his poster work he illustrated and design magazine covers for Graphis and Fortune.
