Original 1894, The Inland Printer created by William Bradley. Archival linen backed in very fine condition; ready to frame. Cover of the July 1894 issue of The Inland Printer magazine. This image is done in an army green ink, Rare original 1894 Bradley. The Saturday Evening Post called him the “Dean of American Designers.”

Bradley's design plays with real and reflected images, pairing the form of a woman wading in a lily pond with another standing behind her on the bank. At right the reflection of a term of Pan peeks through the lily pads. The Inland Printer was a Chicago-based journal aimed at the printing trade with articles on advances in presses, type fonts, and inks, and the first American magazine to change its cover image with each issue, something urged by Bradley whose aesthetic was influenced by European poster artists and illustrators, including Aubrey Beardsley whose designs decorated the British journal Yellow Book.
Artists and designers from this period also tried to represent the mystery of nature, women as mystical beings mediating between a spiritual and an earthly realm, and the pantheistic gods that inhabited nature.
