Original 1906 WIENER CHIC by the artist Alphonse Mucha.
Very rare original Alphonse Mucha cover for WIENER CHIC. Printed in 1906, but Mucha created the image earlier before it was printed. The cover has lots of embossed gold as shown in this image. Very good condition, ready to have professionally frame.
Mucha designed several covers for the Parisian monthly Le Chic, and the partner publication Wiener Chic which was sold in Vienna, Paris, Berlin, London and New York.
Mucha's female model sits in an S curve pose, playfully tilting her head to one side as her hair fills the space around her. Her dress is decorated with ornate Art Nouveau jewelry.
The peacock feather motif on the left symbolizes youth and pride.
