Original 1 sheet U.S. antique movie poster in very fine condition:: MANHATTAN MERRY GO ROUND from 1937. Acid free archival linen backed vintage theater poster; ready to frame.
"Manhattan Merry Go Round" marked baseball legend Joe DiMaggio's only movie appearance. The film starred Jackie Gleason, Gene Autry, Leo Carrillo, Louie Prima and Cab Calloway. And introducing that singing westerm star GEME AUTRY. This is a linen-backed original one-sheet 27" x 41" poster. It was January 1937 when Joe met his future wife; actress Dorothy Arnold on the set of the film Manhattan Merry Go-Round.
Vintage movie posters were normally printed in very limited quantities, often making them hard to find. The posters were not meant to be saved. After their initial use to promote the movie, they were supposed to be returned to the studio or destroyed. Almost all old posters before the mid-1980s were issued folded from the back to minimize fold lines. Folds are not considered defects. (The restored original fold marks are almost not detectible!)
