Great Leader original cigar box label. A cherub plays a tambourine on the left and a violin on the right. A music harp rests down near a box of Great Leader cigars. Very rare.
The Hungarian musician and conductor (presumed to be Franz Liszt in this image) was a friend and disciple of Richard Wagner. In 1885 he came to New York City to direct all German opera at the Metropolitan Opera House. He would stay and make New York his home becoming a naturalized American citizen in 1891.
