Yves Brayer Biography

Yves Brayer, master of graphism and colors
He stands among the most celebrated contemporary French painters. Although he was faithful to the figurative tradition, his ample métier was enriched by his personal vision.

Yves Brayer was a French painter known for his paintings of everyday life. He was born in Versailles and became prominent in the years between World War I and World War II. He studied in Paris at the academies in Montparnasse starting in 1924, and then at the École des Beaux-Arts.

As with other fellow painters of the inter-war years, Yves Brayer devoted a large part of his work to making a record of the then everyday life.
