Mario Puppo Biography

Many of the Italian travel posters of the 1950's were designed by Puppo.   He was active in advertising since the early 1930's.   Between 1930 and 1940 he produced for Fiat a series of images that were published in magazines.   The poster he created for Fiat in 1948 presented the 500B, the first car of the post-war period.   Reference:  (Cat., The FIAT poster 1899 - 1965, edited by A.C. Puppo is also recognized for his marine and moutain poster designs.   He also created the posters for the theatrical performances for the teathers of Ostia and Pompeii.

Puppo is considered to be the most important poster of "Alpine" themes: usually printed by the Pizzi and Pizio of Milan-Rome

Several of his original posters are kept in the Civic Museum in Treviso.
