Leon - Victor Solon Biography

Leon Solon  (Léon-Victor Solon) was an English painter, ceramist, and graphic artist.  He was a purveyor of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.

Solon was artistic director of Mintons between 1900 and 1909, and made an important contribution to the development of art nouveau in the Minton ceramic collections.    He also produced textile designs and later in the United States he the art director of American Encaustic Tiling company.

Leon V. Solon designed the color scheme for Rockefeller Center and was responsible for the polychroming of the famous sculptural decorations on the exterior of Rockefeller Center.
