John E. Sheridan Biography

John E. Sheridan was an illustrator well known in his lifetime for his cover art for the Saturday Evening Post and his commercial advertisements.   His New York Times obituary says that he "was credited with the idea of using posters to advertise college sports.

His first poster work was probably the series he did advertising Georgetown baseball games against Princeton, Yale, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Known for World War 1 posters, he also did Saturday Evening Post covers up into the late 1930's
