Harry Bonath Biography

Born in Bucyrus, Ohio on May 29th 1903.   Bonath few up in Sacrament, California.   He gained his formal eduction at the California School of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Maynard Dixon and John Gerrity.   He was an artist in Sacramento 1918-1926.   He came to Seattle in 1927 as one of the young "California Style" school of modern - advertising artists.   He opened a studio in the Skinner Building and became the cover illustrator for the Seattle Sunday Times Magazine.  
He served in the Navy during World War II and returned to Seattle to open an advertising art studio of his own which he directed until his death on Nov. 2, 1976.
