Carlos Ruano Llopis

born on April 10, 1878 in Orba, into a modest family, being the fourth of seven siblings. After completing primary studies in his hometown under the watchful eye of his beloved first letters teacher, Ismael Serrano, he moved to Alicante where, together with his brother Pedro, he would start high school, continuing and concluding his studies in Valencia with excellent academic record.

Faced with the financial need of his family as a result of the premature death of his father, he decided to abandon his studies and move to a fan-making workshop where, while with his salary, he contributed to alleviate family burdens, he was perfecting the technique of He drew. Later he enrolled at the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts in Valencia.

In 1909 he won the gold medal at the Regional Exhibition, which allowed him to enjoy a scholarship to further studies in Italy.
