Andre Planson Biography

The works of this artist are mainly conserved at the André Planson museum in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre

Planson was born in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, a town on the banks of the river Marne to the east of Paris.

Paul Mesle and soon moved to Paris where he continued his studies at the Académie Ranson under Maurice Denis. In 1933, he wont the Prix Blumenthal, Planson’s career flourished with commissions from the French Government to execute murals and paintings for various scholastic establishments and theaters. Planson became one of the exponents of the Réalité Poétique group and frequently returned to paint the deftly and untiringly winding banks of the river Marne with all its reflections and colors.
