Original Dick Whittington, IV Miles to London stone lithograph vintage poster. Linen backed. Very good condition.

This is a very fun, HUGE poster for Dick Whittington. We have presumed this series (including other fairy tale images) was created to advertise some theatre shows. The target audience was probably comprised of adults, since all of the posters star beautiful women playing characters traditionally played by men and boys. All of our fairy tale posters have been archivally mounted on linen, and, are in wonderful condition.

There was a big blank box at the top that was not appealing that was removed when this poster was linen backed; leaving just the image; and making it more managable for framing.

Richard Whittington (c. 1354–1423) was an English merchant and a politician of the late medieval period. He is also the real-life inspiration for the English folk tale Dick Whittington and His Cat. He was four times Lord Mayor of London, a member of parliament and a sheriff of London.

This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
