This is a small cover for an old Italian digest that regular featured advertising from prominent artists on its covers.

Shell oil has a 75-year history in the aviation industry. Shell originated in 1833 when Marcus Samuel began a business selling antiques and exotic sea shells in a store called The Shell Shop located in London’s east end. Trade in sea shells became very profitable and the business continued in the family after Samuel’s death in 1870. In 1878, Marcus Samuel (the son) began to sell kerosene and realized that there was more profit in oil than sea shells. In order to compete in the industry Samuel began shipping oil in large tankers. By 1887 Samuel’s oil business had become so extensive that he formed a separate company called "Shell" Transport and Trading Company. Samuel chose the name "Shell" from the new firm’s connection with his old business.
