Under the pseudonym Beggarstaff, Sir William Nicholson (1872-1949) & James Pryde (1866-1941) created some truly wonderful modern poster art. The lettering (denoting the name of a musical comedy) was added by the printer after the design left the artists.
This image is the Maitre d'Affiche, but was also printed in a smaller size by Cheret in the 'Posters of Foreigners" Les Affiches Etrangeres illustrees, Angleterre.
