Original WWII vintage poster: The United Nations Fight for Freedom.
Featuring flags from around the world. Note that this poster was created earlier than the foundation of the United Nations which was created later. The focal point of the Statue of Liberty binds all the flags together in this original poster. Archival linen backed with touched-up original U. S. Government fold marks (that are on all World War II posters.)
The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization to promotes international cooperation. A replacement for the ineffective League of Nations, the organization was established on 24 October 1945 after World War II in order to prevent another such conflict. At its founding, the UN had 51 member states; there are now 193. The headquarters of the United Nations is in Manhattan, New York City, and experiences extraterritoriality. This image was created in 1942 showing the early group of nations working towards the formation of the United Nations.
The Declaration by United Nations was the main treaty that formalized the Allies of World War II and was signed by 47 national governments between 1942 and 1945. On New Year's Day 1942, during the Arcadia Conference, the Allied "Big Four"—the United Kingdom, the United States, the Soviet Union, and China—signed a short document which later came to be known as the United Nations Declaration, and the next day the representatives of 22 other nations added their signatures.
