The image features the 386 “microprocessor of 1985. Information Art--Diagramming Microchips September 6 - October 30, 1990 - The Museum of Modern Art, New York

The poster is for the 1990 show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, co-sponsored by Intel, entitled "Information Art: Diagramming Microchips."

Since its invention in 1958, the integrated circuit has grown increasingly smaller, more sophisticated, and more powerful! Now, circuits about the size of a thumbnail are capable of performing millions of calculations per second.

The 1990 show from the museum's design department is 'Information Art', which displays the inner architecture of microchips. The poster shows the chips themselves—most of which are about a quarter the size of a postage stamp—and color diagrams of the inner circuitry of the chips.
