STRATOLINER CLUB, 1941. Framed in the original TWA issue frame.

This is a special certificate in the original frame presented from TWA to flyers who were the first passengers to fly at a height of over 3.5 miles high. The left side has a gold seal over blue ribbons.

This one has the name Capt. D. F. Anderson

"having traveled in the first commercial transport designed to fly at altitudes of approximately three and one half miles is hereby awarded membership in the Stratoliner Club and is entitled to this certificate as one of the small group of distinguished air travelers who have participated in the historical development of the science of upper-altitude flight." Signed by Jack Frye; President, Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc.

In 1941 saw TWA add Boeing 307 Stratoliner service, the first commercial aircraft with a pressurized cabin allowing for flight at an altitude of 20,000 feet. TWA had five such planes, with the war effort requiring faster long distance travel
