Worthy of being executed as a sculpture, the power that emanates from the unapologetically full-figured, harmonious mother figure bursts off the paper's surface. Adding to the strength of the image is the use of the deep indigo-blue, used in subtly shifting nuances, as the single color" (Cappiello/Rennert, p. 326).
