"Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Dali, Picasso, Arp, Bonnard, Braque, Chagall, Cocteau, Daumuier, Delacrois, Dufy, Leger, Matisse, Miro, Picabia, and Whistler --some of the greatest names in the art world -- have created original designs for printed music. And yet their work in this area is not generally known. Though there have been a number of books dealing with illustrated music, none, to our knowledge, mention the works of these major artists."
