Original vintage poster: ALITALIA DC 8 aircraft.
Early 60''s travel poster. Very Good condition. Linen backed. Features a DC-8 flying over the top of the figure 8. The top opening of the 8 has the North American and South American continents. The lower opening of the 8 has Europe, Asia and Africa.
Original "ALITALIA DC JET - DC-8" poster, designed by an anonymous artist, and printed by BODONIANA, BOLOGNA circa 1960.
Douglas announced the go-ahead of its DC-8 design on June 7, 1955, and development costs were estimated at $450 million. The aircraft was to be powered by four JT3L engines rated at 11,000lbs thrust. The range was quoted as at least 3,700 miles with 125 passengers. The DC-8 was the first Douglas jet-powered transport. It entered service simultaneously with United Airlines and Delta Air Lines on Sept. 18, 1959.
