Original poster: PLANT A VICTORY GARDEN, World War II, genuine antique vintage poster. Office of War Information, Washington, D.C."/"U. S. Government Printing Office :This PLANT A VICTORY GARDEN poster portrays a family tending a victory garden in dual tone colors.
Shortly after the United States was drawn into the Second World War, victory gardens began to reemerge. During World War II, Victory Gardens were planted by families in the United States (the Home Front) to help prevent a food shortage. (A similar program was also implemented during WW1). Planting Victory Gardens helped make sure that there was enough food for our soldiers fighting around the world. Because canned vegetables were rationed, Victory Gardens also helped people stretch their ration coupons (the amount of certain foods they were allowed to buy at the store).

By 1944 Victory Gardens were responsible for producing 40% of all vegetables grown in the United States. More than one million tons of vegetables were grown in Victory Gardens during the war.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. A Certificate of Authenticity comes with all of our posters.
