Satomi arrived in Paris in 1922 and was quickly recognized as an exceptional talent. For a short while he apprenticed with Cassandre in his studio, and later went on to a successful career, working both in France and Japan. Though forced to go back to Japan during World War II, he returned to Paris as soon possible, where he continued a long and prosperous career working primarily for a big Japanese confectionery company, but still working on whimsical commissions such as the 'golf' poster.
