In 1905, Albert Santos-Dumont constructed his no 14, using the Hargrave gox kite as a basis of his design. Using a 24 h.p. Antoinette dirigible engine, he succeeded in making an 8 second hop in this clumsy tail-first machine on August 14, 1906. |
