On December 17, 1903, Orville took the controls. After a forty foot run the airplane left the monorail and covered a distance of about 120 feet. An erratic flight lasting about 12 seconds. Subsequently three more flights, the lonest lasting 59 seconds were made on this day. The airplane was a success. The dream of ages was a reality! |
