An automobile accessories manufactured by profession, Louis Bleriot made flying his avocation. In 1909 he brought out the Beriot XI, a 35 h.p. Anzani motored monoplane which was destined to bring him undying fame. On July 25th, 1909, he boarded his monoplane in Calais, France and took off with the cliffs of Dover, England as his goal. The 20 mile flight was accompolished in 37 minutes. |
