O'Er the Ramparts We Watch United States Army Air Forces. Original, linen backed rare Army Air Force vintage military poster. Superb art by Schlaikjer has large image of pilot in bomber jacket holding bomb in clouds with bombers flying beneath. The military recruiting poster has been a vital part of recruiting for centuries. In the 20th Century the posters became more colorful and even collectible. Bright and VF appearance. Jes Schlaikjer (1897-1982) is recognized as one of the greatest poster artists of WWII. He became the official artist of the U.S. War Department in 1942 and had a studio in the Pentagon. His military leader portraits included Eisenhower and Patton. |
