Original linen backed Venezia ENIT by A. M. Cassandre.
"The poster artist plays the role of the telegraphist: he doesn’t create the message, he transmits it. No one asks for his advice, we only ask that he makes a clear, powerful and precise communication.
A poster must carry in itself the solution to 3 problems: optical, graphic and poetic."
Cassandre in his “Notes” 1935.
This is an original vintage Venezia Italian Gondola Travel Poster by A.M. Cassandre featuring a simple but stunning image of Venice. Cassandre originally created this atmospheric design--with a block of text at the bottom--for the Venice Graphic Design Conference in 1951. For several years afterwards the image was used annually, and the Italian Government Tourist Bureau liked it so much they employed it in the form seen here as a destination poster for Venice. |
