After experimenting with gliders, Glenn Martin started constructing his first airplane in 1908 at Santa Clara, California. Fitted with a Ford model "T" engine of 12 h.p.. This low power permitted only straight away flights, but when a 30 h.p. Eldridge engine was installed, his machine was very successful. |
