Cassiers is best known for his shipping posters, and for his predilection for incorporating natives and fisherman into his works. Though his artistic style is simplistic, such characters lend charm and realism to his poster designs. Printed by Chaix; Jules Cheret is unquestionably the father of the poster. An artist and technician, Cheret brought color lithography to the highest levels of perfection by demonstrating how all the hues of the rainbow could be achieved with three or four colors.
