Original. Les Affiches Illustrees. Presented in a 20" x 16" acid free museum mat.
Lily de Lidia was a popular performer in Paris music halls. She was known for her 'gommeuse' (double-jointed) act. This poster announces Lidia's appearance at the outdoor Alcazar d'Ete. This one has a crease. Uncreased or maitre version also available.
This is from the "Les Affiches Illustree" series
which Cheret contributed to the 'Courrier Francais.' This 12-page weekly magazine, which started in 1894, championed the work of many leading posterists. (Rennert XXVII, 347) |
