Notes   Probably the most appealing fighter pilot poster created for World War II. This image was the idea behind the poster for that featured Ben Affleck in Pearl Harbor. Many of the original war posters were a basis for later movie posters. Excellent condition.

Color poster by the Wilkinsons (J. Walter Wilkinson, 1892-1988, and his son, Walter G. Wilkinson, 1917-1971) that shows a young man in a khaki uniform in the cockpit of a U.S. Army fighter plane giving the thumbs-up sign and saying you buy 'em[, ] we'll fly 'em! Emblazoned below the pilot's image across the body of the airplane cockpit (center) are the words Defense Bonds Stamps; to the right of the cockpit is a smaller image showing the statue of the Concord Minute Man with his left hand on a plow and his right hand holding a rifle, with the words The more bonds you buy - the more planes will fly arranged in a semicircle around him. Printed in the right corner below this image are the words U.S. Government Printing Office : 1942-O-436100.

(Editor's note: During World War II the Wilkinsons created a series of six war bond posters. Their unique signature, consisting of two kneeling stick figures with each figure holding a paint brush in the air and an s added to their last name, can be seen to the left of the cockpit.)
