Since the tire manufactured by Pneu Velo Baudou is named "La Sirene," it's appropriately a radiant siren that rises out of the startlingly blue sea to sell it to us, her red hair flying in the wind, a few strands semi-decorously obscuring her bosom, while tendrils of seaweed do their best to conceal the remainder of her ample charms. The business was founded in 1910 by Maurice Baudou, at first specializing in puncture-proof tires for the army, then bicycles, and finally turning to make boot rubber. The firm is still in business today, directed by the grandson of the founder, Jean-Maurice Baudou, and has diversified its activities to include shoes. As the company's archives indicate that the first advertising for the firm was entrusted to Cappiello, it can be safely assumed that this dates to about 1910.
