Linen backed original Cappiello cover "La Baionnette" from 1917. The image of a man wearing a crown of skulls and the two headed Germany Adler (eagle) pearched on the top. The political weekly, La Baionnette, was a virulently anti -German publication during World War 1, publishing many anti-war drawings by leading artists of the period from 1915 to 1920. Cappiello contributed numerous covers and two-page center spreads from 1915-1917.
